Silvera East Riverside
About the Application.
On behalf of Silvera for Seniors, ground cubed planning has submitted a Land Use Redesignation (rezoning) and Subdivision application for Silvera’s six-acre site within East Riverside. As a non-profit provider of senior's housing and a civic partner of The City of Calgary, Silvera has a long history of involvement within the Bridgeland community and was an active participant in the creation of the East Riverside Master Plan.
The land is being rezoned to allow for the subdivision of this large parcel and to prepare for future redevelopment of the vacant land, including an exciting new park space. This application is the first step in the long-term, future-oriented process for Silvera.
What does this mean for East Riverside?
Please note that no changes are being contemplated for Silvera’s existing Willow Park on the Bow, Aspen, Spruce, and Bow Valley Community buildings. Any future redevelopment is contemplated for the vacant portions of the land only.
This application will help to facilitate the realization of the East Riverside vision, which is for a higher-density, transit-oriented neighbourhood with increased population, new amenities, and enhanced connections. The proximity of the Bridgeland-Memorial LRT Station is a key amenity for the community of East Riverside, with almost the entire community being within a 600 metre walking distance from the station.
The current Land Use District that applies to the site (136D2009) does not allow for the uses and scale of development envisioned in the Master Plan, nor does it align with Silvera’s future aspirations for the land. A revised land use district will help Silvera realize these aspirations, as well as improve the area for current and future residents.
